Description

Join UNDP, UNODC, CITES, World Bank and WCS for a high-level stakeholder dialogue on illegal trade in wildlife and a reception to celebrate the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the recent UNGA Resolution on tackling illicit trafficking in wildlife.

The event is designed to offer a high-level platform to reaffirm political commitments to address the challenges of wildlife and forest crime. The stakeholder dialogue will also serve to increase the effectiveness of ongoing coordinated responses to the illegal trade of wildlife being undertaken by the UN System, Member States, and civil society, and to raise public awareness and momentum around the causes, impacts of, and achievements made in combatting the illegal trade of wildlife and forest products.

Attendees will include Heads of UN agencies, Ministers of Government, Ambassadors, leaders from the private sector, academia and the UN, civil society, media, and celebrities. The event will include high-level remarks and a private reception, commencing at 6:30pm and ending at 8:00pm.
